ELD Malfunctions Paper Logs
If a driver has an ELD malfunction, that malfunction must be noted on the driver's logs at the time of malfunction. All drivers are required to have the last 8 days of logs. All drivers MUST know how to correctly fill out a paper log in the event that their ELD malfunctions or stops working.
The below metrics must be filled out to be deemed legal:
- Â Date
- Total daily miles driving
- Truck or tractor & trailer number
- Name of carrier
- Driver’s signature/certification
- 24-hour period starting time (e.g. midnight, 9:00am, noon, 3:00pm)
- Main office address
- Remarks
- Name of co-driver
- Total hours (right right edge of grid)
- Shipping document number(s), or name of shipper and commodity
These are the 11 things that MUST be on a driver’s logs at all times. Both ELD and paper logs.
